Dear Shep,

You’ve had a busy week! Between picking up and holding a toy (of course it went straight to your drooling mouth) and holding your head up for a good long 10 seconds before plopping on my chest, you managed to take a legitimate dip in the pool and even attend  your second birthday party of the summer. You continue to amaze me every day. Tonight when I put you to sleep, you wouldn’t shut your eyes like you usually do. Instead, you looked at me with your big open mouthed grin and shook your head back and forth like you do when you’re very excited. I try so hard when you do that to keep a straight face, but I always fail and give you a big goofy grin right back. Thank you for napping on me at the birthday, for being my pool buddy all week, and for making even the roughest days worth it all when they are all said and done. I love you little boy. You’re my only sunshine.
