Dear Shep,
I am blown away by how absolutely precious you are each day. As of last week, you’ve started spending huge chunks of time in your sling with your head leaned back just staring at me quietly. You take breaks to rest your head on my chest, then arch back to stare again & occasionally crack a smile. You still refuse your late afternoon cat nap (I may never get your naps lined up correctly) so we spend each evening taking a walk in your stroller or sling and you inevitably fall asleep after trying to convince me that you are in fact, not sleepy! You play happily with others, but the minute you spot me, you remember quickly that you are either hungry or absolutely miserable and insist that I pick you up. If I don’t, and leave the room, you cry for about 2 seconds then begin happily playing again. Something tells me that might be what some would call “rotten” but I’ll call it “love” for now.
You’re at “school” with a runny nose & I’m taking a few hours to re-energize after the last week of multiple wake ups at night (you haven’t done that since you were an itty bitty babe) and a lot of extra holding throughout the day. You are the cutest little snotty nosed baby I’ve ever snuggled, so I’ll live with the sleep deprivation and continue to pray that it passes quickly and you are your spunky self again very very soon.
Xx Mommy
