Dear Shep,
Something about the 6 month mark of your life hit the fast forward button, and suddenly every month only passes faster than the last. I’m continuously blown away by how much you fulfill our lives and can’t imagine waking up without having my morning coffee in our big bed with you, Aspyn, Daddy, and your breakfast all over the sheets.
Some of the fun things that happened this month? Well, for starters you got your very own playroom renovation! Daddy and I hit the road for Ikea on a rainy Saturday and loaded up the truck with goodies for your little play world. A circus tent, funny wall clock, dresser, and your very own lawn mower are just a few of the exciting things we came back with. We purchase a big fuzzy green rug for the space and your silly little fanny refused to go anywhere near it for days bc it looked like grass and well, you’re a little weird about textures – you get that from your Daddy! We also got a water table with one of your birthday gift cards and you are loving the chance to get outside and put your hand in a giant doggy bowl without hearing “no” from me to stop you. You had a sleepover for the first time this month as well! Blakely and Mrs. Carter came to spend the night with us and you had so much fun sharing your new toys with Blakely and taking him out for pizza and a stop in the toy shop in Mount Laurel. It’s so amazing to see how sweet and kind you are with your friends. You haven’t hit the “mine mine mine” phase and I adore seeing how easily you share and what a gracious host you are. Don’t ever lose that trait.
You’ve started taking more and more steps, and I’m sure you’ll have taken off for good here shortly. Babyproofing the house is in phase 2 and we are ready to purchase locks and keep you out of every cabinet, drawer, and toilet in this house! You still sleep 7pm to 7am and have weaned yourself to only nursing at night before bedtime and occasionally in the morning. With your first haircut under the belt, you’re looking even older than before and it’s making this momma a little sad. We turned your car seat around (I was hoping to wait until you were two) but with your little legs jammed into your belly it seemed the time had come. I had you without the DVD player for almost two weeks, but eventually my sanity caved and I let it back in. You’re a lovely car partner, but sometimes mommy needs some quiet.
I love you! Can’t wait to see what happens in the next 4 weeks.
Mommy Xx
