It all started with a call to my mom Thursday night.
Mom: ” you know it’s supposed to snow tonight!”
Me: ” I know mom, like less than an inch. Not a big deal.”
Mom: “That’s what they said when we all got trapped a few years ago”
Me: “OMG you’re such an old person. Seriously go get your bread and milk and eat it tomorrow”
Mom: ” I already sent Daddy for it, don’t worry”
Me: EYES ROLLLLLLING
Friday am
SNOW. SO MUCH DANG SNOW. 5 inches to be exact. Snowing all day long. No gloves.
Let’s stop here and get some motherly advice for your future as fathers. ALWAYS HAVE GLOVES FOR YOUR CHILDREN. I don’t care if it snows once every decade, have an “in case it snows” pair handy just in case. Truly. Imagine taping giant garden gloves to a two year old. I mean, Im throwing you a bone because you’re two River, but OYE! You were a pill about those cold hands and a bigger pill that the gloves were too big. So just trust Mom kiddos….get gloves. And bread and milk while you’re at it. Just be 60 from day one and you’ll be good to go on that one.
Anyhoot……you guys woke up and stared out the window talking about it goethe and giggling while I scrambled to get everyone clothes. Thank goodness the snowsuit I got for you she (just in case) when you were 18 months happened to fit River perfectly. WINNING! Shep, you had to suffer through three pair of pj pants and the new coat (again WINNING) that I bought like a week ago for you begrudgingly thinking it wouldn’t even get cold enough for you to wear). But who cares what you wore. You were warm. Gloves were bad. Fits were thrown.
River, you were okay with it. You wanted to ride you “blue biiiiiike” balance bike through the snow and didn’t care much for building snowmen. You did get into throwing snowballs at me and Daddy and really enjoyed all the hot chocolate you got when we would come inside to warm up. I think if you were set with better gloves you would’ve been all over it. You of course didn’t want to taste my snow ice cream, but after threatening you with no Christmas or bed or whatever I chose at that moment, you tasted it and promptly responses with “OH! It’s mmmmmm” and gobbled it up. I’ve always had to convince you taste the happiest foods. Blows my mind. You loved the fire and the snuggling after coming inside and that made my mommy heart happy. I’ll always take a snuggly day with my Roo. I think the highlight of your day was the snowman pancakes I made for breakfast. You always make me so happy when you gobble up a meal and you were so sweet and excited when I set your plate down. You may be harder to get extra love out of, but when you give it to me, I know you mean it….which makes it super special.
Shep, you were all over it. Snowmen, snowballs, running, jumping, snow angels. You were running wild and free and the BEST AGE for this day. You didn’t care that you had giant glove hands or that your feet were close to frostbitten, you’d have stayed out there all day long if I would’ve let you. Daddy showed you how to roll a small ball into a snowman and before I knew it I was looking out the window to you rolling a ball the size of me and Daddy combined. I truly don’t know how you did it, but you had us rolling at your determination. You wanted to sit in front of the fire and each your lunch in your chair with your precious little toes warming up when we would come inside. I’ve never laughed harder at you than I did that day. You were such a picture of childhood and I wanted to redo the day a hundred times over. You ended the day making me laugh again by eating the eyes off of your tiny snowman you made in the neighbor’s yard. You had me come out to take a picture of you holding his hands, then proceeded to start to eat his face and laugh hysterically at yourself. I love how you tickle yourself the same way Daddy does. Roo and I should learn to be a little less serious and enjoy laughing at ourselves like you two do. It’s precious and I know we adore that in you guys.
Auggie Bear, you were mystified to say the least. You just sat and stared with bug eyes every time we took you out. Your sweet Daddy held an umbrella over you when he took you out and I wore you in your sling and let it pelt your tiny face. You were fine and if anything it highlighted those long lashes of yours 😉 – Thank you for indulging us with so many photos. The big guys were too fast for me to get many, but thanks to your inability to protest, you were the model of the day. You napped like a little angel in your giant puffy coat and kept our day full of baby magic to go along with the snow.
