Augustus Finch/Auggie Bear/August/,
So many names you have 🙂 My goodness we just celebrated your first CHRISTMAS!
Dolly was here, Santa came, You helped make cupcakes to celebrate Jesus’ birthday, we welcomed a new year, and celebrated your little brother turning three! What a fun month we had with you here! Everything is just better now that you’re here with us.
For starters, you laughed for the first time. Straight up cackled out of nowhere at me clapping to a song on the television with River. I tried for a solid hour to have you do it again, but you were up to my antics and didn’t throw me an extra bone. Don’t worry, my efforts are nowhere near running out. That sound was magical and I will spend my life trying to get as many of those out of you that I can! You have everyone under your spell this Christmas with your absolute cuteness and Dolly and Nono are officially smitten as well. Even with the spit ups. That’s saying a lot for Dolly 🙂
You’re full of snuggles and cuddles and still eating around the clock, so there’s been a lot of fires in the living room and Christmas crafts with the boys with you attached to me for the most part. I really don’t mind having you so close so often. You’re still in our room at night and while it pains me to say it, no longer sleeping that long stretch I bragged about just last month. Actually, you did that for a few nights and that was it. So technically it was more of a random occurrence than a new thing it seems. No worries. You’ll sleep again for me. (this is me begging you by pretending to be more confident than I am……I will surely die if you don’t sleep again for me within the next month). We’re working on getting you on a more predictable schedule so maybe that will do the trick for us. Who knows 🙂 Either way, you can stay 😉
Christmas was so fun with you around. I (erm I mean Santa) got you an exersaucer for later, a few new toys, and a bumbo seat. The idea that all of these things can be used pretty soon makes me want to cry, but I’ve accepted the fact that I can’t freeze time and begrudgingly will eventually place you in them despite the urge to make you wait until you’re at least one! haha. I promise to update this with lots of photos and videos, but for the time being just know that your pjs matched your brothers’ like any good mom would do & I ate plenty of Christmasy treats to pass along to you for good measure.
The new year came with open arms for me and made me really think about slowing down and just enjoying my time with you and your brothers and Daddy. I owe that to you sweet boy. Having you here means the final chapter of this baby phase is beginning, and while it’s a long one….it’s officially begun. Shep will start kindergarten this year and you will learn to sit up alone and eventually walk. I want to enjoy every single possible moment with you guys. I’m so thankful for all of you. Thank you for closing out this part of my life and story with such joy.
We adore you Auggie Bear! Happy New Year!
