Dear Auggie,
Month 7 was a doozie. I’ll start by apologizing for the miles of photos I intend on putting in your previous post, but we had our first little solo photo shoot together and you just KILLED IT. These were technically a week after you turned 6 months, but we’re calling it your 6 month photos and plopping those in the last thread! You were precious (of course) and spent the entire time there with smiles and snuggles despite it literally being the worst time ever as far as schedules go. We arrived and it was nap time within ten minutes or so. You got fussy for maybe two seconds, ate a snack, then fell asleep only to have the camera’s shutter wake you. No crying or fussing, you just rolled over and made eye contact with Rachel the photographer, and then threw her one of your gummy grins and rolled with the next segment of photos until we were finished. It’s moments like that when I just feel so blessed to have you. Everything about the hard moments of motherhood become easier with you. They say the second or third are easier bc “they have to be”, but the things is, you don’t. I’m not so tied up that I can’t spoil you, your brothers adore you, and we can be on routines and at home more than most younger siblings. Despite all of that, you still roll with the punches and ride whatever coaster we hop on for the day. We all could learn a lot from you at only 15 pounds or so.
Let’s get to the monthly round up. Food. We did it. Well, we tried it. You didn’t so much do it. You hate it actually. All of it. I try every few days again, but for now you’re a milk man. I’ve gotten you to take a few bites here and there and you LOVE to nibble on sliced apple with sheep, but that’s truly it. Please don’t be another Roo who doesn’t eat anything but carbs and candy for life. Please. But really.
Dolly came which was random and wonderful. We celebrated Easter this month so you had a first Easter basket and church and egg hunts and all of the fun family moments that are even more special with you around. I forced you to pose with some eggs in a photo and carrots in a bunny suit for another. Oh yes! We also made you pose with a live lamb along with the brothers since he was in the house already for photo shoots. Last year we had one and I missed out on getting your brothers with him, so this year we didn’t make that mistake twice. You nailed it. You loved him. It was gold. Okay fine, I’ll plop those in here too. I really should ;). All this to say, you were the treat you always are and Dolly got to see first hand just how amazing you are. You napped during pedicures with Dece and church with Dolly and when the main singer went to town in her gospel like moment on stage you just plopped up to watch her with your jaw dropped all “yes Jesus” like and then plopped back to continue in your slumber when she finished. Everyone stares at you in these moments sure you’ll lose it and instead leaves ready to make babies. I’m certain of it actually. You’re contributing to the population increase personally.
Hey! You’re sleeping a lot better. You still go to bed at 7, but you’re waiting until almost 3am for the first feeding which means I’m feeling like a new woman. Kind-of. My thyroid is off which is not something you care about, but let’s just say I could use the full 8 hours in a row. No rush. But rush please. Also…drumroll… YOU SAT UP SOLO. We went to the doctor, a new one to which we won’t be going back – more from that later, and he asked if you could sit up yet. I said no bc that was the answer, and literally 30 seconds later you sit up solo for him right in front of God and everybody. You are such a little 14.5 pound showoff. I’ve loved letting you practice and you get so excited for yourself. It’s adorable in true Auggie form and we are so happy to celebrate right alongside you and your gummy grin.
I’m going to attach your month 7 video below too. I think it will show you just how incredibly loved you are by your brothers. They adore you and I know will make you part of their little club more and more every day. It’s evident that you’re already a member and if anything, will be another prize in their life worth fighting over.
Keep sleeping, keep being wonderful, and don’t grow an ounce. Simply enough, no?
I love you Auggie Bear,
Mommy Xx
