Auggie Bear,
You did it! You sleep through the night (well, until 5am where you fuss for 30 before going back to bed until 6) but STILL! We (in a very tired and groggy state) caved and bought some video that preys on tired parents like yours and while it said the same stuff we already knew, they had a magic approach to weaning night feedings and well, IT WORKED! Don’t worry, we didnt let you cry for hours on end alone as the approach….it really worked and we just are so glad you’re getting more rest and we are less cranky (ahem, more like irritable) going on little to no sleep ourselves. I’m officially calling month ten the month of rest and we are so happy you’ve decided to give us a little 🙂 You also managed to get TWO more teeth up top and while I mourned the idea of losing you as a mouth of only two bottom teeth, you’ve proven us wrong by being even cuter with the top two. So now I’m officially good with you stopping. I mean it this time. You just can’t possibly be any cuter with more!
We spent Father’s Day at the lake and had such a good time resting and relaxing with you and your brothers. You may not have gotten to fish or roast marshmallows, but you did try new things and learned the art of watching water ripple by on a porch in the quiet summer air. We just sat and enjoyed the moments you and I, and I really just soaked up every minute sitting with you in my arms without the distractions we’re used to! No cable, no internet, just us. You really are the best entertainment around.
Another first? Your first 4th of July! We had the whole family over (including baby Hooper) and celebrated with hot dogs and a giant water slide and lots and lots of sunshine and grandparent hugs. You spent the majority of your time awake in Papa Shep’s arms and enjoyed the luxury of being toted around up high like the little monkey baby that you are. Something about my Daddy calms you and you just go into this very chilled out/relaxed baby version of yourself that goes with the flow and doesn’t make a peep. We’ve considered bribing him to move in for your fussier time of day 😉 Speaking of 4th celebrations, you’re also a few weeks into a new love affair with watermelon. You’ve eaten it during 4th of July shenanigans and a lemonade stand on our front lawn with the boys. We used you in your high chair as bait to entice the passers by and I think you did the sale some good!
Let’s keep going with the first by including your first ear infection…..which brings me to your first hives IN IKEA! Thanks for that 😉 After a few weeks of being a bit fussier than the norm, you broke out into a horrible fever that lasted a few days and we finally took you in to see that your ear was infected. Day 2 on meds and we took you for an Ikea adventure to find you breaking out into a massive rash when we were halfway through with our trip. We rushed on out and you were totally fine ( a good med swap and Benedryl later ) but boy did you make that an interesting trip for us!
We are having so much fun watching you grow into your precious personality and we wouldn’t change a single thing (except maybe to make it all last a bit longer). Thank you for being such a blessing. You were our little missing piece August Jones!
MommyXx
